And So I Wrote ...

 SANCTUS (HOLY)

Words and Music: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman

The Latin words in this song actually mean, "Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty; Father, bless us all with your kindness". What an awesome privilege it is to serve such a gracious and Holy God…One who willingly came to earth to die so that we might experience the power of a new birth, just as His light and power broke forth in the original creation. As fragile pieces of clay, we so desperately need His Presence in our lives to 'drive the night away'! May we spend our days declaring, "This is birth, the Light has come"!

HOUSE WHERE LOVE LIVES

Music: Stephanie Boosahda
Words: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman

I wrote this song for my college sweetheart and husband of over 20 years on our wedding anniversary. At the time, Wayne and I were in major transition and had moved from a big house to a small apartment… #1802. We had less, but we were as happy as '2 fleas on a dog'! smile. Having each other was the most important thing! Love is the greatest gift of all. (I Cor.13:13) I got the 'hook line' idea from something Mel Gibson said in the movie "Conspiracy Theory". As a taxi driver, Mel was driving down the street where the love of his life lived and the guy in the car said, "What street are we on?" Mel replied, "This is the street where love lives!" Well, that was all I needed for an idea…except you can't write much about a street, but a lot goes on in a house!

PUT UP A FIGHT

Music: Stephanie Boosahda
Words: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman

This song was born out of a time when I fell prey to a 'woe-is-me' attitude. Everything in my life seemed to be going wrong and I felt like the best years were behind me. Lies! Lies! Lies! One morning my husband, Wayne, was getting tired of me moping around the house and he said, "Hey woman…quit 'wimping out' on life and giving in to the devil's lies! You've got to put up a fight!" Yep, he was 'right as rain'! (Boy, sure can tell I'm an 'Okie'.) I've found that the best way to defeat the enemy is to offer up a sacrifice of praise and "Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7). I believe the best is yet to come!
SIMPLE THINGS

Music: Stephanie Boosahda / Christopher Boosahda / David Stearman
Words: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman

One of my favorite things in all of life is sitting on my back porch swing, holding hands with my husband, sipping a cup of coffee (with french vanilla cream), and my two dogs, Ladybug & Nike, sitting at my feet (God made dogs & spelled His own name backwards! smile.). We seem to complicate life too much these days and we forget that Jesus cares about the simple things too. "He has given us all things richly to enjoy!" (I Tim. 6:17) Remember, take time for life! Savor the moments! I have a saying…"Don't just stop and smell the roses - stick them up your nose!"
AT THIS TABLE SET BY LOVE

Music: Stephanie Boosahda
Words: Stephanie Boosahda / Wayne Boosahda

We were having communion in our church one Sunday morning when this melody started to 'bubble up' inside me. While at the piano, I began to spontaneously sing this chorus as the congregation partook of The Lord's Supper…The Holy Eucharist…The Great Thanksgiving. At this Holy Table we receive our identity, our healing & we partake of Christ Himself! So, go ahead… endulge yourself! No calories at this table! "Taste and see that the Lord is good!" (Psalm 34:8) He has spread a glorious feast for us! Enjoy!
THE EARTH IS THE LORDS

Music: Stephanie Boosahda
Words: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman / Wayne Boosahda

Nature has always been a source of joy, peace and comfort in my life. When I look out at my backyard, I can see the Lord's majesty in the cottonwood tree, hear His voice in the Oklahoma wind and hear His song through the mocking bird that sits on my mailbox in the morning. May the Lord open our eyes to see His love through the beauty of creation all around us. "The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness!" (Psalm 24:1)
JUBILATE DEO

Music: Stephanie Boosahda
Words: Stephanie Boosahda / Wayne Boosahda

Sitting in my music studio at home one afternoon, I began playing the most infectious melody, but I had no idea what lyric would fit such a happy, 'musical hook'. The next week, at my voice lesson Ginny, the accompanist, had me do a vocal exercise that her children's choir had done… 'Jubilate Deo Rao' (a 300 year old vocal piece by Michael Praetorius). Finally I had found a lyric that could be married to the musical motif I had written! I needed a processional piece for an upcoming Bishops Ordination and this song worked perfectly! Little did they know that Wayne and I wrote the lyrics in the car, on the way to the mall! tee-hee! This story-song of the life of Christ gives us great reason to 'Jubilate' (to sing out, to shout, to joyfully rejoice!) Actually, in the Latin pronunciation, the 'J' in Jubilate is silent, but I like to sing it with a 'J' and a short, no foam, low fat, caramel latte! big smile. VIRGIL, SLASH OVER THE 'E' IN LATTE!
JESUS HEALS THEM ALL

Words and Music: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman

Many people could interpret this song the wrong way… "Well, if Jesus heals them all, then why do so many people die or live with sickness?" Actually, David and I wrote this song from the premise that Jesus heals ALL KINDS of people…that He is no respecter of persons. His touch & grace are available to all of us. We will never be good enough, worthy enough, or holy enough to deserve His boundless love, healing and forgiveness, yet, He desires to touch us all! "And Jesus went about doing good and healing ALL that were oppressed of the devil." (Acts 10:38) Yes, He's still the Great Physician!
 NEVER BE THE SAME

Music: Stephanie Boosahda
Words: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman

In Kansas City I was sitting at the keyboard during an 'altar service' where my husband was praying for people in a prayer line. As I looked out, I saw my dear friend, Corrie Hastings, seeking the Lord and crying 'buckets of tears'. Compassion rose up in my heart as I watched the tear-drops stream down her beautiful face. Immediately I began to sing the chorus of this song…It was birthed by His Spirit! I believe this song carries a strong anointing for healing and restoration, so by faith,…Reach out to Jesus and you'll never be the same again! (Matthew 9:20).
WE ARE A PEOPLE

Words and Music: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman

Wow! What an incredible experience I had after recording this song! I went back to my hotel room in Nashville to listen to a cassette of the rough track we had just recorded. While the song was playing , I had what I believe to be an 'open vision'. I heard the sound of thunderous applause, and as I looked up, the roof lifted off the hotel and I could see millions and millions of people in a large circle applauding estatically! I questioned, "Why are all these people clapping?", when I heard someone say, "You're singing our song…the song of the martyrs…and we applaud you!" "We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses!" (Hebrews 12:1) This one's for you, Grandma! (Sweet, Evajane Sidwell!)

 DRY BONES

Music: Stephanie Boosahda
Words: Stephanie Boosahda / David Stearman

Many years ago I heard a dear friend, Carlton Pearson, preach a dynamic sermon, "Dry Bones - Live Again!" He inspired me so much that I went straight home and wrote the chorus to this song and then 15 years later I finally finished it. My prayer for the Body of Christ is that we will 'wake up' and become the Church Triumphant, return to our first love and experience His resurrection power in the 'dry bones' of our lives! "I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into the dry bones, and they lived, and stood on their feet, a vast and mighty army!" (Ezekiel 37:10)
